Recently, I posted a mysterious image on Facebook with an incomplete hashtag mentioning a challenge. The time has come to lift the curtain on this experience that I will try with my girlfriend at the beginning of the year.
The diet that is not supposed to be compatible with phenylketonuria
The ketogenic diet has many health benefits, but this lifestyle is incompatible with the phenylketonuria diet. Indeed, it is based on a very low consumption of carbohydrates, but those who follow it must ingest a large amount of proteins! We immediately see the big problem that arises.
Yes, but…
After thinking about it and discussing it with my girlfriend (who has already followed the ketogenic diet with fabulous results), I ended up realizing that it might be possible to do it for a short period of time… a month, let’s say. It is however essential to have secret weapons and a killer organization!

#KetoPKU, the challenge (follow the hashtag!)
So, I decided that the day after my birthday (yes, it’s strategic!), I would start 30 days of ketogenic diet to evaluate and analyze the effects while maintaining my PKU diet!!!
The objectives will be to maintain:
- 20 to 30g of carbohydrates per day
- 8 to 10g of natural proteins per day
- 60 to 70g of proteins from PKU formulas per day
I will obviously document my adventure on my various platforms. 🙂 I will start soon with my next article, where I will detail my secret weapons.
It won’t be easy, but it will be super interesting!
Before leaving, I would like to clarify that my nutritionist and my doctor are perfectly aware and agree with this experience (it will also be monitored by blood samples before, during and after the 30 days). In addition, never forget to talk to your nutritionist before changing your diet. Phenylcetonurie – Le blogue online platforms can in no way replace the advice and opinions of health specialists.
